Through out the sailing season the GSSC hosts regular Wednesday evening and weekend race events. These events are open to all sailboats. Don't own a boat, don't worry come on out and get involved as a regular crew member on a sailboat. Most boats are crewed with 3-5 people during each race. This is a team sport and a great way to meet people and develop your sailing skills.

The racing season starts pretty much as soon as the ice comes off the bay although we welcome you to start at any time during the season we really encourage you to come down to the GSSC clubhouse on Wednesday, May 31, at 6:30pm to meet some of our skippers and crew at our pre-season race primer night. Ice (open water) permitting we will kick things off on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 with the first race of the 2017 season.

You may also want to participate in our 2017 GSSC Open House in June a great time to meet people and see what the club is all about. This is also a chance to try out our Sailing School boats with an instructor on a demo ride. Watch for updates on our GSSC Facebook site for event details.

If you aren't able to make it out for the first part of the season just come down early on a Wednesday night throughout the summer, don't be shy and introduce yourself. Someone will find you a ride for the night or you could always help out with the folks on the race committee boat. Best to be down on the dock between 5:30 and 6:00 as most boats are leaving the mooring field around 6:15 headed for the race course.  You may also choose to send an email out using the club's general email address.  This email address gets sent to all members.

We are very lucky to have a group of very dedicated volunteers that help organise and run the events. Some of our competitors do get a little competitive at times and dish out a bit of grief. Thank you to our volunteers for continuing to smile and come back race after race! We  have also have very generous sponsors in the past and have a list of sponsors that have already signed on for the 2017 season.  The ongoing sponsorship has given us the ability to update our racing equipment.
